Privacy Policy

Effective: March 2025

What this tool does

VinMate decodes vehicle identification numbers using publicly available data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). No user accounts or registration are required.

Information we process

When you submit a VIN, it is sent to NHTSA's public API to retrieve official vehicle reference data. No personal information is collected, stored, or shared during this process.

Data retention

VinMate does not retain VIN queries or lookup results beyond the current browser session unless explicitly configured otherwise in a given deployment.

Third-party services

VinMate may request data from external services to retrieve vehicle information and supplementary visual assets. These services operate under their own privacy policies and may independently process standard request metadata such as IP addresses.

Cookies and tracking

VinMate does not use cookies, analytics, or advertising trackers. No user behavior is tracked across sessions.

Changes

This policy may be updated if changes to the service affect data handling. Revisions will be reflected in the effective date above.
